Chachi and more

So over the past few months Graham has started talking. The boys love to try to get him to say random new words (ex. Buffalo) and hearing how it sounds when he tries to pronounce it.

When Graham was around 16 months he could make a pretty good stab at Carter and Hunter. Then there were several months when he wouldn't say their names, he would just point.

Well, about 3 months ago he started calling Carter "Chachi". At first Carter would say NOT CHACHI!! Carter! But after a week or so, his new nickname started growing on him. Then, just as soon as Carter started encouraging Graham to call him Chachi, Graham started calling both Carter AND Hunter Chachi....using it interchangably for brother. A few months have gone by now and Chachi is no more. Graham now calls them by Carter (Cahtuh) and Hunter (Untuh) and his vocabulary is growing day by day.

A few more silly Graham-isms:

Munger evolved to Minger (for Finger).
He calls his friend Brody, Roby.
Although he doesn't have Grandma or Grandpa down yet, he can say Jackie and Jim very clearly.
What does a rooster say? Wackawoodlewoo!!!

Cookie Exchange

The first Saturday of December, I hosted my first Cookie Exchange. I had been wanting to do this for years, but things were always too busy. I decided to go ahead and do it anyway this year and it was fun! Lots of ladies attended and the cookies were great! Maybe I will do it again...

STAR Reading

I hesitated to post this, but it's just so amazing to me! Hunter received what is possibly his last reading assessment in elementary school (5th grade). His scores are incredible, but what makes this so unbelievable to me - is where we were 4 years ago.  In first grade, this child struggled with sight words EVERY NIGHT. Seriously, there were tears 4-5 nights per week. Hour long tear filled, flash card sessions...daily. When I look at where Graham is now in 1st grade...reading/sounding out almost every word in front of him with ease...I truly realize how far Hunter has come! So what these results say (to the best of my understanding) is that Hunter is in the 5th grade, 4th month of school (GP 5.44) and tests at a grade equivalent of 12.9+ (compared to other students nationally). He's in the 98/99th percentile and can comprehend up to 80% of 11.4th grade material. So proud of his progress and so grateful for his 1st grade teacher, Ms. Shavon Diggs, who encouraged me to keep going...

Hunter is Five!!!!!

Hunter turned the big 05 on Saturday, September 26th. He had a Mario Bros themed party. It turned out pretty well. He had a good turn-out at his party, even though it came a flood about the time everyone had to get in their cars. Thanks to all who braved the weather! The kids had a great time and no one got konked in the head while they were trying to break the pinata! :-) Hunter's Cake - I didn't even cry while decorating it! Daddy and Graham watching the Pinata action! Temporary Tattoos Isaac hitting the Chomp Chomp Pinata Hunters BIG present - A playground that is still sitting in boxes!
