There's No Place Like Roam

Uncle Scott, Aunt Lisa and Patrick came for a visit Easter weekend. We attended an egg hunt and Easter services at Church of the Highlands, and we all really enjoyed it. We dyed eggs, had a visit from the Easter Bunny and just enjoyed the family time.

We were at the kitchen table a month or so ago and Hunter ask "What time is it?" We all looked at the microwave and then looked back at him...we were speechless. He promptly gets up and walks closer to the microwave, turns around, returns to his seat and begins eating. Well, Hunter thought NONE of us could see the clock, and that we were speechless because it would have been rude to ask US to get up to go check the time for him. Poor thing had no idea that we were just astonished that he couldn't see the clock. So, I immediately get some optometrist recommendations, and we survive the month long wait for the first new patient appointment. We fill the time with "Can you see this? What about now? How about this"? Hunter begged me the entire month to let him get contacts. He was REFUSING to wear glasses at school. He finally went to his appointment this week and he is nearsighted. I was horrifed when I FINALLY logged into my Blogger account and realized that my last post had been in January 2012, and the post before that was 6 months prior! You see, with only one laptop in the house, and 3 hi-tech kids, 2 of which use the computer for their homework, I rarely ever use the laptop. I've resorted to using my iPhone for almost everything, yet for some reason I neglected to find a way to continue my blog online. Last week I found the Blogger app, and next week I'm upgrading my iPhone for a better camera. I should be able to easily keep the blog up to date with pics and details about the ongoings of our family. So, in 2011 - 2012, I basically used Facebook to keep everyone updated. In January of 2013, I decided to take a less active role in the whole FB world, as it seemed less and less people are actually keeping in touch that way. For the past two years, the boys have been off on a Tuesday each Spring for a Teacher’s In-service Day. Sherry was out of town this week, so I took the day off. We went to Pin Strikes to play at the arcade. Hunter hit the Jackpot and won 1000 tickets. The machine ran out and had to be restocked in the middle! That was A LOT of tickets!!!! He ended up with 1385 in all. Definitely the most I’ve ever seen! After we loaded up our prizes from the arcade we headed over to Menchie’s for some yummy Fro-Yo. It was really good, aside from Graham’s wacky combination of Cinnamon Roll, Mint and Strawberry-Banana! After a few bites, he was suddenly very FULL!

I must have lost my mind. I’ve signed all three boys up for soccer. With Jason’s crazy schedule this is going to be a tough one to pull off. Thank goodness for Ms. Sherry! They will all be in different leagues, with different practices and hopefully not too many duplicate game times. Luckily, they will all play at the same location. We are all looking forward to it at this point, but I know we will be worn out by the end of April! Pictures to come soon!

So, today the boys come home from school with the latest fundraiser information. In my opinion, it’s PURE GENIUS! So, here is the deal. Each child gets a login to a website tenmarks.com. Once logged in, they have THOUSANDS of math questions available on their appropriate grade level. So, they bring home a sheet requesting a per problem donation. The donations will go 100% for technology improvements in the school. The overall winner gets a “Private Movie Screening” at the school with 6 of their friends, including snacks and all. Then several winners get to play a kids vs. teachers dodge ball game. The winning classrooms get to pick the teachers that play. So, of course my boys came home completely amped up. Now here’s the GENIUS part. These questions are similar to what will be on the TCAP (Standardized Test), and the contest ends right before the tests begin. What a SNEAKY way to get the kids to be excited about practicing for their tests! And the school benefits to boot! My onl
