HELP! I'm drowning in WALLPAPER!

Oh. My. Goodness. These people were obsessed with wallpaper.

Most of you know that I am not working outside of the house right now. Ideally I would be able to start a job when the boys start to school in the fall. Right now my goal is to get this wallpaper removed before school is out for the summer. Its not looking like I'm going to make my deadline. Its not the wallpaper that you can see that is the problem. It's what lies beneath.

I've started working on two rooms so far and both of them had double layers of wallpaper and borders. Not only are there two layers, but the bottom layer has been painted over, which makes it virtually impossible to remove! ARGH! That's ok though, because we got a good deal on the house and I'm not working right now. At least the completed projects will add value to the house.

I'm usually not so good about taking pictures of before and after, so I went through the house snapping pictures of the "before" so you can at least laugh along with me.

The guest bathroom. We have a faux painted ceiling that drops about 2 feet down the wall (and conveniently covers a previous border) Then the remainder of the wall is wallpapered with an additional border! FUN!

The Master Bathroom. Apparently they covered up the late 80's country blue with a Safari theme. Matches the sponge painted walls nicely!

What lies beneath in Graham's room. It is OH SO STUCK!

Cookie Exchange

The first Saturday of December, I hosted my first Cookie Exchange. I had been wanting to do this for years, but things were always too busy. I decided to go ahead and do it anyway this year and it was fun! Lots of ladies attended and the cookies were great! Maybe I will do it again...

Easter 2009

The Easter Bunny was good to the boys this year...even though we dyed the eggs at 8PM the night before. All the "egg hunts" were with plastic eggs this year, which the kids prefer, due to the candy/prizes inside. We went to our new church on Easter morning and the kids made it through the "grown-up" service, so it has been a great day so far. Now, on to lunch at Grandma Jackie's house for Easter dinner!

Our special visitor....

Do I have a story to tell you! Last night Hunter ask if he could go out to the van and look for his Nintendo DS. I let him go and then made sure he locked the door as he came in. This morning, as I stepped outside to take some things to the car before we left for school/work, I noticed the sliding door on the van was wide open. I started griping to the boys "Good grief, now the battery is going to be dead....AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" They came running out the door to find an "American Bulldog" curled up in Carter's seat. After I got my wits about me, I sent them back in and tried to talk the dog out of the car. Then I tried to entice him out with a hot dog. He just stared at me. Then I got a stick, opened up all the doors and yelled at him to try to scare him out. He just ran behind the seat and hid in the back. When I got really agressive he started quivering his lip like he was going to growl at me. He was scared of me and I of him. All the while, I was documenting th...
