Spring Break

Ms. Sherry came down for a visit and to watch the boys during Spring Break. Jason and I took a quick getaway while we had an extra adult at the house. (Thanks, Ms. Sherry!)

We went up to Lookout Mountain, GA/TN and had a great time. It was our first time staying at a B&B and we loved it. We visited Rock City, Ruby Falls and rode the Incline Railway. We also went to downtown Chattanooga (only a 15 minute drive) for dinner one evening and walked the Walnut Street pedestrian bridge. We ate too much, but it was all wonderful. We tried The Canyon Grill, The Cafe on the Corner and 212 Market. I think The Cafe on the Corner in downtown Lookout Mtn was our favorite. The Chanticleer Inn is a must stay if you ever make this trip. We definitely recommend going in late April/May, the azaleas and other spring flowers were beautiful!

Cookie Exchange

The first Saturday of December, I hosted my first Cookie Exchange. I had been wanting to do this for years, but things were always too busy. I decided to go ahead and do it anyway this year and it was fun! Lots of ladies attended and the cookies were great! Maybe I will do it again...

STAR Reading

I hesitated to post this, but it's just so amazing to me! Hunter received what is possibly his last reading assessment in elementary school (5th grade). His scores are incredible, but what makes this so unbelievable to me - is where we were 4 years ago.  In first grade, this child struggled with sight words EVERY NIGHT. Seriously, there were tears 4-5 nights per week. Hour long tear filled, flash card sessions...daily. When I look at where Graham is now in 1st grade...reading/sounding out almost every word in front of him with ease...I truly realize how far Hunter has come! So what these results say (to the best of my understanding) is that Hunter is in the 5th grade, 4th month of school (GP 5.44) and tests at a grade equivalent of 12.9+ (compared to other students nationally). He's in the 98/99th percentile and can comprehend up to 80% of 11.4th grade material. So proud of his progress and so grateful for his 1st grade teacher, Ms. Shavon Diggs, who encouraged me to keep going...

Hunter is Five!!!!!

Hunter turned the big 05 on Saturday, September 26th. He had a Mario Bros themed party. It turned out pretty well. He had a good turn-out at his party, even though it came a flood about the time everyone had to get in their cars. Thanks to all who braved the weather! The kids had a great time and no one got konked in the head while they were trying to break the pinata! :-) Hunter's Cake - I didn't even cry while decorating it! Daddy and Graham watching the Pinata action! Temporary Tattoos Isaac hitting the Chomp Chomp Pinata Hunters BIG present - A playground that is still sitting in boxes!
