Bubbie (Permanent name TBD)

We have a new addition! A barn cat that has lived in the neighborhood since we moved here had a litter of kittens this spring. One kitten got closed up in our garage one evening and when we let it out the next day the momma cat never came to retrieve it. So, after a day of its pitiful meowing, I went and bought it some food. It immediately ate the dry food, so I guess it was old enough to leave its mom.

Carter has always been allergic to cats (sneezing, itchy red eyes), but he was the most excited about having a pet. He has done very well about washing his hands after petting her, so I think it will be fine if we keep the kitten outside.

Graham LOVES this kitten...poor kitten. He chases her around and will grab ahold if given half a chance. The kitten on the other hand, loves Hunter and Jason. He chases them around, pouncing at the slightest movement. Hunter is tickled, and Jason acts like the cat is a pain....until no on is around. I've caught him playing with it and it snuggling in his lap when he thinks no one is looking. :-)

Cookie Exchange

The first Saturday of December, I hosted my first Cookie Exchange. I had been wanting to do this for years, but things were always too busy. I decided to go ahead and do it anyway this year and it was fun! Lots of ladies attended and the cookies were great! Maybe I will do it again...

STAR Reading

I hesitated to post this, but it's just so amazing to me! Hunter received what is possibly his last reading assessment in elementary school (5th grade). His scores are incredible, but what makes this so unbelievable to me - is where we were 4 years ago.  In first grade, this child struggled with sight words EVERY NIGHT. Seriously, there were tears 4-5 nights per week. Hour long tear filled, flash card sessions...daily. When I look at where Graham is now in 1st grade...reading/sounding out almost every word in front of him with ease...I truly realize how far Hunter has come! So what these results say (to the best of my understanding) is that Hunter is in the 5th grade, 4th month of school (GP 5.44) and tests at a grade equivalent of 12.9+ (compared to other students nationally). He's in the 98/99th percentile and can comprehend up to 80% of 11.4th grade material. So proud of his progress and so grateful for his 1st grade teacher, Ms. Shavon Diggs, who encouraged me to keep going...

Hunter is Five!!!!!

Hunter turned the big 05 on Saturday, September 26th. He had a Mario Bros themed party. It turned out pretty well. He had a good turn-out at his party, even though it came a flood about the time everyone had to get in their cars. Thanks to all who braved the weather! The kids had a great time and no one got konked in the head while they were trying to break the pinata! :-) Hunter's Cake - I didn't even cry while decorating it! Daddy and Graham watching the Pinata action! Temporary Tattoos Isaac hitting the Chomp Chomp Pinata Hunters BIG present - A playground that is still sitting in boxes!
