I can SEE!

We were at the kitchen table a month or so ago and Hunter ask "What time is it?" We all looked at the microwave and then looked back at him...we were speechless. He promptly gets up and walks closer to the microwave, turns around, returns to his seat and begins eating. Well, Hunter thought NONE of us could see the clock, and that we were speechless because it would have been rude to ask US to get up to go check the time for him. Poor thing had no idea that we were just astonished that he couldn't see the clock.

So, I immediately get some optometrist recommendations, and we survive the month long wait for the first new patient appointment. We fill the time with "Can you see this? What about now? How about this"?

Hunter begged me the entire month to let him get contacts. He was REFUSING to wear glasses at school.

He finally went to his appointment this week and he is nearsighted. No other issues, just could only see the big E before, and with lenses, he could see the tiniest letters the doc threw up there. Of course the doctor wouldn't recommend contacts, since he will only need the glasses part of the time. Hunter picked his frames last night and LOVED them. He is so excited to see better, that he can't wait for school to start back. He wants to see what he's been missing!

Thank God for glasses!! I will never forget when we realized our sweet Sarah couldn't see. I felt like the worst mother in the world! She wears her glasses faithfully and needs them all the time. We are so thankful for those glasses. :) Hunter is very handsome in his glasses and I am sure he is excited at all that he can see now! :)

Cookie Exchange

The first Saturday of December, I hosted my first Cookie Exchange. I had been wanting to do this for years, but things were always too busy. I decided to go ahead and do it anyway this year and it was fun! Lots of ladies attended and the cookies were great! Maybe I will do it again...

Easter 2009

The Easter Bunny was good to the boys this year...even though we dyed the eggs at 8PM the night before. All the "egg hunts" were with plastic eggs this year, which the kids prefer, due to the candy/prizes inside. We went to our new church on Easter morning and the kids made it through the "grown-up" service, so it has been a great day so far. Now, on to lunch at Grandma Jackie's house for Easter dinner!

Our special visitor....

Do I have a story to tell you! Last night Hunter ask if he could go out to the van and look for his Nintendo DS. I let him go and then made sure he locked the door as he came in. This morning, as I stepped outside to take some things to the car before we left for school/work, I noticed the sliding door on the van was wide open. I started griping to the boys "Good grief, now the battery is going to be dead....AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" They came running out the door to find an "American Bulldog" curled up in Carter's seat. After I got my wits about me, I sent them back in and tried to talk the dog out of the car. Then I tried to entice him out with a hot dog. He just stared at me. Then I got a stick, opened up all the doors and yelled at him to try to scare him out. He just ran behind the seat and hid in the back. When I got really agressive he started quivering his lip like he was going to growl at me. He was scared of me and I of him. All the while, I was documenting th...
